چکیده
Background. Cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) is a severely debilitating yet underdiagnosed condition in patients with diabetes mellitus. The prevalence can range from 2.5% (based on the primary prevention cohort Diabetes Control and Complications Trial) to as high 90% of diabetic patients. Clinical manifestations orthostasis myocardial infarction. diagnosis made using multiple function tests assess both sympathetic parasympathetic function. This study was conducted relationship between Cardiac QT interval. Material methods. cross-sectional 100 attending tertiary care hospital India. Deep breathing test, Valsalva ratio, immediate heart rate response standing 30 : 15, BP rise sustained hand grip postural hypotension were evaluated. Scoring done for cardiac neuropathy. interval QTc determined association CAN obtained. Results. Out type 2 patients, 60% males 40% females. 25 having no had prolonged While, 75 associated early severe significantly when compared without controls (P < 0.0001). grading score CAD showed that 75% cases > 25% 2. 44 2–4 31 above 4. A significant Diabetic observed non controls. Conclusions. increase prolongation intervals. Hence, there need regular checkup nervous system patient prevent further complications.

Determination of sensitivity and specificity of QT interval in ECG of diabetic patients for ndiagnosis of cardiac autonomic neuropathy
one of the important complications of diabetes mellitus that physicians pay less attention to is diabetic autonomic neuropathy(DNA) ,especially cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN).this has a poor prognosis and is accompanied by sudden death risk, recently several investigations that were carried out for CAN detection ,suggested that QT-interval prolongation in these patients is an important diagn...
متن کاملQT dispersion: comparison between diabetic and non-diabetic individuals and correlation with cardiac autonomic neuropathy.
INTRODUCTION The QT interval on the resting electrocardiogram (ECG) expresses the myocardial depolarisation and repolarisation time. Elevated values of QT dispersion (QTd) are associated with cardiovascular mortality in diabetics. Cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) is a common complication of diabetes that is also associated with increased morbidity and mortality. However, there are no data in ...
متن کاملAssociation of serum adipocytokine levels with cardiac autonomic neuropathy in type 2 diabetic patients
BACKGROUND Cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) is a common complication of diabetes associated with poor prognosis. In addition, the autonomic imbalance is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) in diabetes. It is thought that adipocytokines contribute to the increased risk of vascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, literature data on the associati...
متن کاملAssociation between Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy, Diabetic Retinopathy and Carotid Atherosclerosis in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
BACKGROUND It is not clear whether microangiopathies are associated with subclinical atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We investigated the relation of cardiac autonomic neuropathy (CAN) and other microangiopathies with carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM. METHODS A total of 131 patients with T2DM were stratified by mean carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) ≥ or <1.0 mm and the ...
متن کاملProlonged QT period in diabetic autonomic neuropathy: a possible role in sudden cardiac death?
Twenty four men with insulin dependent diabetes and different degrees of autonomic neuropathy were studied to establish the response of the QT interval to various heart rates. Nine men with autonomic neuropathy had a longer QT interval than 13 healthy individuals and 15 patients who had diabetes without, or with only mild, autonomic neuropathy. Those with autonomic neuropathy also had a proport...
